We are building a team of seasoned Strategic Sourcing consultants to support a major procurement transformation initiative with a top-tier client. These are contract (1099) roles through Whitetail Advisors, working in close collaboration with our client’s consulting team and procurement leadership.

Contract Length

6 to 12 months

Travel

75% to 100% travel: Onsite Monday to Friday and home on weekends

Possibly some days will be remote from home.

Pay Rate

1099 independent contractor

Associates: $100/hour

Managers: $135/hour

Travel expenses reimbursed on a net 30-day basis

Role Description

We are searching for up to six Strategic Sourcing professionals to join a high-impact client engagement focused on indirect procurement transformation. The expected duration is 6 to 12 months, with potential for longer-term extension based on performance and client needs.

Role Types

• Manager roles: Senior resources capable of leading category strategy, guiding clients, and overseeing sourcing workstreams
• Associate roles: Experienced sourcing professionals executing detailed sourcing activities and supplier engagements

All candidates must be capable of executing or guiding all phases of the sourcing lifecycle, including:

• Spend analysis and opportunity identification
• Supplier market intelligence and competitive assessment
• RFI/RFQ development and administration
• Supplier evaluation and selection
• Contract negotiation and award processes

Focus Categories

This initiative spans a broad range of indirect categories , including but not limited to:

• Marketing
• Professional Services
• Facilities Management
• Telecommunications
• IT & Technology

Key Requirements

• Strong Category Management capabilities are essential; candidates should be able to develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies with confidence
• Familiarity with data analysis and modeling tools for spend analysis (Excel, Python, R, Tableau, etc.)
• Experience managing sourcing projects end-to-end, ideally across multiple indirect categories
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced, client-facing environments with a high degree of autonomy
• Prior consulting experience is a strong plus

Qualifications

• Associate roles: 8+ years of relevant sourcing experience, including direct category ownership and execution
• Manager roles: 12+ years of experience, including sourcing team leadership, client advisory, and category strategy development
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degrees or procurement certifications (CPSM, CIPS, etc.) are a plus
• Availability to start immediately and commit to full-time project work
