Job Description

Topicz is a premier convenience store distribution company that has a rich history dating back to 1926. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Manager to oversee and coordinate our transportation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe transport of convenience store goods, managing a team of drivers, and maintaining compliance with company policies and government regulations. This is a full-time, first shift, exempt position.

Transportation Manager Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate transportation personnel, including drivers and support staff.
  • Develop and implement schedules and routes to optimize delivery efficiency.
  • Conduct regular meetings and safety briefings with the transportation team.
  • Oversee daily transportation activities to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Monitor the performance and condition of the fleet, ensuring vehicles are properly maintained and compliant with safety standards.
  • Manage and resolve any logistical issues or delays that arise during transport.
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to reduce accidents and improve driver safety.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns related to transportation and delivery.
  • Work closely with the customer service team to resolve issues and improve overall service quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including driver logs, fuel usage, and delivery documentation.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on transportation performance, costs, and safety metrics.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.

Transportation Manager Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of supervisory experience in transportation or logistics
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • DOT certification is required
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Transportation Manager Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, which may require standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
