With a high-energy dining room, polished service, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, Scopa is a place where guests return for both comfort and quality.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and hospitality-driven Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate combines technical wine expertise with a warm and intuitive sense of guest service. This role involves knowledge in Italian-forward wine list, training staff, and guiding our guests through an exceptional dining experience with thoughtful beverage pairings and personal engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

· Actively lead table-side wine service with approachability, professionalism, and deep product knowledge, especially of Italian and domestic wines

· Assist in maintaining and updating the wine list, with a focus on inventory accuracy, seasonal selections, and vintage integrity

· Conduct staff training sessions on wine regions, producers, tasting techniques, and pairing philosophy, ensuring confident and consistent FOH knowledge

· Monitor cellar organization, storage conditions, and using designated inventory systems

· Collaborate with the Beverage Director to source and taste wines, build relationships with reps, and stay attuned to market trends

· Drive wine sales by engaging guests with genuine recommendations, curated pairings, and thoughtful storytelling around producers and regions

· Support floor operations during service as a polished and hands-on team member, helping to ensure smooth pacing, table coverage, and guest satisfaction

· Assist with private dining and special event beverage planning as needed

· Uphold Scopa’s standard of gracious, attentive hospitality and be a cultural leader on the floor

Requirements:

· Proven sommelier or wine steward experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant

· Solid foundation in Italian wine and WSET Level 2+ or equivalent certification preferred

· Exceptional communication, poise, and presence with both guests and team

· Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

· A collaborative spirit with a desire to mentor and grow within the beverage program
