Position Summary

The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in our pre-construction and project acquisition efforts by delivering accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, alarms, suppression, and related components. This position requires close collaboration with the VP, general superintendent, project managers, design teams, and clients to ensure optimal project planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project estimates and preliminary designs to establish time frame/schedule, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project 
• Prepare accurate labor and material  takeoffs using  OST ,  PlanSwift , or similar estimating software
• Interpret architectural and MEP plans, specifications, and codes (e.g.,  NFPA 13, NFPA 72)
• Estimate  fire sprinkler ,  fire alarm , and  suppression systems for bid proposals
• Conduct occasional site visits for pre-bid evaluations
• Prepare detailed material and labor cost estimates, including pricing of materials, equipment, and labor
• Collaborate with GCs, vendors, and project teams to define  scopes of work
• Lead  bid preparation ,  value engineering , and contract review
• Support hand-off to construction team and assist in  budget forecasting
• Maintain pricing databases and historical cost records
• Track  sales metrics , lead generation, and close ratios
• Provide training to junior estimators and support team development
• Provide post-estimation support by reviewing project budgets and assisting with cost control measures.
• Work with management on monthly budget management, project forecasting, project billing, and collections.
• Utilize Spectrum to verify project costs for future estimate information.
• Create new customer leads and provide follow-up with contractors and owners.
• Lead and manage the bidding process for large-scale, multi-phase, or design-build projects.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NFPA codes, local ordinances, and industry trends.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in  fire protection estimating
• Strong knowledge of  NFPA codes and local building standards
• Proficient with  Bluebeam Revu ,  AutoCAD , and  estimating tools (OST, Accubid, PlanSwift)
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines with minimal supervision
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field or 4 years equivalent experience
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-Starter and capable of working remotely with minimal management.

Preferred

• NICET II+in Fire Protection
• Experience with  design-build and negotiated commercial projects
• Familiarity with  Revit ,  Spectrum ERP , and BIM coordination

Travel: Limited (2–3 days/week as needed)
