Mechanical Technician 2

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician 2 to support advanced mechanisms and sensor development. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge systems that have global impact and historical significance. Ideal candidates are hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about precision assembly in aerospace or high-tech environments.

Responsibilities:

• Assist engineers in the development, testing, fabrication, and modification of mechanical and electromechanical components.
• Perform mechanical assemblies, precision soldering, harness routing, bonding, and electrical testing.
• Clean and lubricate hardware using specified chemicals and solvents.
• Interpret and follow mechanical assembly drawings, wire lists, BOMs, and written instructions.
• Operate hand tools and mechanical equipment including torque wrenches, soldering irons, multimeters, etc.
• Work in clean room environments as required.
• Document work and demonstrate compliance with engineering requirements to Quality Assurance.
• May work weekends as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of additional education or hands-on mechanical/electromechanical assembly experience.
• Proficiency with common hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and execute assembly instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with aerospace or high-reliability mechanical assembly.
• Proficient in using calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, thermal wire strippers, microscopes, and ovens.
• Familiarity with precision assembly of spacecraft structures or subassemblies.
• Experience bonding components and installing thermal/electrical interfaces.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
