We are looking for a Mechanical Technician 2 to support our Mechanisms and Sensor area. This position performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive operations in the development of mechanical and electromechanical designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete mechanical units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components.
• Precision cleaning and lubricating of various hardware.
• Must be able to work with various chemicals and solvents.
Familiar with electromechanical assembly. Have common knowledge of precision type assembly work.
• Past experience building spacecraft structures, sub-structures, deployable', hinges and electromechanical assemblies.
• Work independently with minimal direction.
• Installing/bonding heaters, thermistors, thermostats onto assemblies. Installing gears, electrical motors. Thermally install interfaces. All parts will be properly assembled together.
