Mechanical Maintenance Lead / HVAC Technician - 626618

Location: Columbia, MD (On-site – Corporate Headquarters)

Schedule: Full-Time | Preferred Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Availability: Must be available for occasional nights, weekends, or holidays for urgent facility needs.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Lead / HVAC Technician to join our Facility Services team. This role offers the opportunity to manage and maintain a wide range of mechanical systems at a single, centralized location—our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform and oversee maintenance and repair of:
• HVAC systems
• Boilers, chillers, and cooling towers
• Compressed air, refrigeration, and natural gas systems
• Domestic hot/cold water systems, vacuum, and lab gases
• VFDs and building control systems (BMS)
• Supervise maintenance staff and schedule work with internal teams and contractors
• Conduct regular inspections of mechanical rooms (twice daily) using BMS software
• Respond to emergency hot/cold issues and HVAC system alerts
• Oversee and coordinate HVAC service contracts and repairs
• Maintain fume hoods and lab exhaust systems
• Manage parts inventory and equipment procurement
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company policies
• Maintain accurate records and develop safety procedures
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors

Physical Requirements:

• Comfortable working in lab environments with hazardous materials
• Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and work in confined spaces
• Able to wear full PPE including hard hat, respirator, and protective gear

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 8+ years of HVAC/mechanical maintenance experience in commercial or industrial settings
• Supervisory experience
• Valid HVAC/Refrigeration license (current or previously held)
• Maryland Stationary Engineer License (Grade 2)
• Proficiency with HVAC tools, systems, and diagnostics
• Basic knowledge of boiler and chiller operations
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
• Computer proficiency (e.g., CMMS systems like Limble, ARC Facilities, SAP Ariba)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical training or certification in HVAC or related field
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
