Position: Manufacturing Controller

Herman’s Nuthouse, LLC is a manufacturer of private label snacking nut products and the nationally acclaimed Pear’s Snacks brand. The company started in 1915 in Omaha, NE. The Manufacturing Controller is a key leadership position at Herman’s Nuthouse, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working closely with operational leaders and ERP users across the organization. This role is responsible for conducting cost and efficiency analyses, developing solutions to support accurate and insightful financial reporting, and ensuring strong alignment between operations and finance. Prior experience in food manufacturing is essential, and familiarity with ERP systems such as Sage X3 is strongly preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Bellevue, NE headquarters and manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full accounting function, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of production costs.
• Provide input on financial requirements and cost accounting processes to ensure the ERP system is configured to meet company financial reporting and analysis needs.
• Collaborate with the ERP users to ensure accurate data entry and validation within the ERP system, including precise product costing, inventory levels, and transaction records.
• Partner closely with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure cost control functions are executed in accordance with company standards and policies.
• Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial data and ensure it aligns with production and procurement records and reflects accurately in reporting.
• Build financial reporting tools, dashboards, and KPIs to enhance visibility into performance.
• Partner with department heads to develop cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with Sales, Customer Operations and Operational Areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
• Experience with manufacturing-focused ERP systems (Sage X3, NetSuite, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and production financial controls.
• Proven track record preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements and leading audits.
• Ability to conduct detailed financial analysis and provide actionable insights.
• Experience in preparing budgets and forecasts.
• Self-starter with the ability to lead and execute in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
• Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders including Team Members, ownership, customers, suppliers, and regulators.
