Company Description:

The Brooklyn Autism Center (BAC) is a private, non-profit school dedicated to providing high-quality education to individuals ages 5 to 21 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). BAC utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) implemented within a 1:1 student:teacher ratio. We provide highly individualized educational plans which strive to increase meaningful skills and reduce the likelihood of interfering behaviors.

Responsibilities:

  • Instructors are responsible for teaching students one-on-one applied behavior analysis utilizing various evidence-based methods including but not limited to discrete trial training, behavior chaining procedures, incidental teaching, implementing behavior plans, recording and graphing data, creating and maintaining stimuli and other duties as needed.
  • Instructors assist in the implementation of programming in a range of areas including: peer integration, social interaction, communication, academics, self-help skills, gross-motor skills, language, functional living skills, behaviors management and recreation/leisure pre-vocational skills.
  • Instructors assist in the implementation of data collection systems which measure student progress in each of the above areas. They participate in clinic (parent/teacher) meetings to review student progress, programs, procedures, teaching techniques, administrative matters, etc.
  • The Instructor is responsible for ensuring the programmatic quality and integrity of all assigned activities.
  • The Instructor will be responsible for working as a team member for the benefit of the participant and the program.
  • The Instructor will report directly to a Classroom Supervisor and Associate Clinical Director.
  • Instructors must attend all staff meetings and required trainings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements: BA/BS in Psychology, Education or related field; 1 year in an ABA program preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with children with Autism utilizing ABA preferred, but not required.
  • The Instructor should be a dynamic individual who will work with the program team to deliver and ensure smooth and efficient programming.
  • This person must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • The successful applicant will be motivated, energetic and reliable, with a passion for teaching children with Autism.
  • The Instructor understands that all conduct must reflect the highest level of professionalism.
  • This position is FULL TIME with hours 8:30-4:30, M-F. Excellent benefit package, including approx. 10 weeks paid vacation annually, health and dental insurance, and optional Transitchek enrollment.
  • *BCBA/BCaBA supervision available to fulfill requirements for board certification.

This position is ideal for entry level candidates and college grads who are, looking to enter the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, and receive quality, hands-on training with individuals with autism.
